We’ve all done it, looked over to see the new this or that being brought into the neighbour’s house, the latest TV, a new couch, the latest fridge freezer, or they’re having a modern luxury kitchen put it. This list is endless.
It’s what we do with the emotions that this creates that’s the key. All too often it starts a thought process that perhaps our kitchen needs upgrading, or our TV is not good enough, when often in reality, before seeing this the thought had not even crossed our minds.
The same can be true with building, it’s very easy to look at what others have done and believe that you want that, or gaze down the street and want to do similar or just a bit better. Builders will often say things like, ‘many of our clients are upgrading to this option now’ whatever that may be.
But hold fast. Don’t rush into it, spend the time to assess what you really want, what works for you and your family. Think about how you live now and how you intend to in the future. Don’t worry about the Joneses, they can worry about themselves. Building is going to be one of the most significant financial decisions of your life, make sure it’s for you.
